MISSION

The mission of Gospel Temple Missionary Baptist Church Music Ministries is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ through song, encourage believers in their walk with Christ, lead the congregation in worship, and provide an avenue through which individuals may be an integral part of the worship. Through the Music and Worship Ministry, the members of the various choirs actively engage in praising God in song with hymns, anthems, spirituals, gospels, and contemporary music. By praising God through Music and the Arts, the members of the Sanctuary Choir, Male Chorus, Children and Youth Choir and the Christians in Action Choir encourage others to accept Christ through worship and music.

VISION

The Music Ministry’s Vision is to creatively express God’s Word through music, song, and praise while giving God all the praise.

GOALS

  • To meet the present needs of the congregation in worship services and outreach ministries
  • To edify the body of Christ and uplift the congregation
  • To support the various ministries associated with the church through the arts
  • To recruit new members through praise, song, and worship

History and Overview

The Christians in Action Music Ministry started Feb. 7, 2010, and recently celebrated its sixth anniversary.  Approximately 25 members participate in this ministry ranging from age 5 to 80.

Since its inaugural year, the Christians in Action Choir has visited nursing homes, learned over 75 songs (23 songs in 2015 ) and had several opportunities to minister through music throughout the city. The CIA Choir sings on the 1st Sunday of the month and often has a “theme” in which songs are aligned with the events at “The Temple” or season.  The members of the CIA consider its Ministry a significant addition to the worship services and thoroughly enjoy singing together.

“Speaking to your psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Ephesians 5:19-20
