Deacon Ministry
Mission Statement
The Deacon serve as spiritual leaders of the church to help, share, and care for the people of this congregation. The deacons of Gospel Temple Missionary Baptist Church believe Jesus is the head of the church and we recognize that our Pastor is the undershepherd of our congregation. As deacons, we follow the pastor’s leadership as he follows God’s plan. The deacons humbly function as partners to the pastor in carrying out the missions of spiritual growth and development of the church body. Striving to maintain a close relationship with the pastor and church ministries, the deacons promote harmony among the congregation.
Vision
Our goals are to be humble servants, workers in the church and community, and a living testimony and witness for Jesus.
Objectives
The primary objectives of the Deacons Ministry of Gospel Temple Missionary Baptist Church are rooted in biblical principles:
- To assist the pastor in his mission and vision (Acts 6:3-4 , I Timothy 2:7)
- To be a shining example of Christian virtues (I Timothy 3:8-13, Philippians 4:8)
- To be humble (I Peter 5:6, Galatians 5:13)
- To establish a bond with people promoting openness, encouragement and trust (I Timothy 3:1-7. Galatians 5:22-25)
Services
Consistent with our Mission, Objectives, and Vision, the deacons are honored to offer various services to our church family and the community. As deacons of the Gospel Temple Missionary Baptist Church, we provide the following services:
- Assist the Pastor in implementing his vision and programs.
- Assist in carrying on the business of the church.
- Assist in the worship, baptismal, and communion services.
- Make visitations to the sick and shut-in members, providing spiritual and physical support.
- Address the needs of those who request spiritual, physical and social help
- Engage in church activities that promote evangelism and missionary service, promoting the Great Commission.
